At the crossing of cultures
The Philosophical-Theological College in Brixen/Bressanone is the southernmost of the German-speaking philosophical-theological universities and the northernmost in Italy. Two cultures and two ways of doing philosophy and theology meet here. In Brixen/Bressanone teaching is mainly in German, while the courses at the branch in Bozen/Bolzano are given in Italian.
Students
The students of the College come mainly from South Tyrol, but also from the neighbouring regions, from German-speaking countries, from Africa and India.
The College offers regular degree programmes as well as part-time study opportunities. It attaches great importance to personal support for students by teachers and staff and to lively exchange among students.
Cooperation
The study of Philosophy is an educational offer in close collaboration with the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck, with the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and the Facoltà Teologica del Triveneto. It is essential part of the academic landscape of South Tyrol. The financing of research and teaching is regulated on the basis of a program agreement with the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol.
Focal issues
The College’s main areas of focus include teaching and research in the field of "sustainability". Various courses refer to the seventeen goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The College belongs to the "Alliance of Teaching and Research for Sustainable Development in South Tyrol".
